Emotions and intelligence
I am impressed by intellectual and ambitious people. I am fascinated by the arts, knowledge, creativity, development and their desire to improve their environment. Especially if this is combined with high emotional intelligence, as our quality of life is largely determined by our relationships. The ability to understand and manage our own emotions and empathy is the basis for understanding our social relationships and our society. In addition to education and knowledge, intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence are also important factors on the way to productivity and success.
“…the love of anything is the offspring of knowledge, love being more fervent in proportion as knowledge is more certain. And this certainty springs from a complete knowledge of all parts which united compose the whole of the thing which out to be loved.”
– Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci
Polyhistors of the past were far ahead of their time. They have proven their extraordinarily diverse education in several fields of science and art. They were not motivated by fame or impressing others, but by learning about their surroundings and by the passion of the desire for knowledge. Leonardo Da Vinci was a 15th-16th century polyhistor who was known and recognized as a painter, sculptor, poet, writer, architect, inventor, military engineer, anatomist, scientist and mathematician.
Leonardo Da Vinci was passionate about flying, which gave him many inspirations when he designed the anemometer, the flying machine, also known as the “ornithopter” and the parachute. He designed the Aerial Screw, which is considered for the predecessor of the helicopter. As a military engineer, he tried to invent mobile combat devices. The Tripple Barrel Cannon, which contained 3 thin front-loading and height-adjustable cannons, whose relatively light weight and large wheels gave it mobility on the battlefield. He created the Revolving Bridge, which was a rapidly assembled and collapsible bridge structure, and the Armored Car, which was the forerunner of modern tanks.
Leonardo was also an extremely talented painter, as evidenced by his well-known works such as Mona Lisa, Last Supper, Self Portrait, Head of a Woman, etc. Many of his notes with his illustrations have survived through the ages, in which he preferred to use mirror writing. The reason for which is still unknown. Historians speculate that he was either left-handed or did not want his notes to be easily read. His drawings of human anatomy formed the basis of similar studies. He was a true renaissance man whose designs and studies inspired many inventions still in use today.
“I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.”
