Hiking in Marian Valley

An amazing forest trip

The Marian Valley (Mariánské údoli) is a popular hiking destination located on the southern edge of the Moravian Karst protected landscape area, in the eastern part of Brno-Líšeň. Locals visit it all year round, as there are always activities to suit the season: forest walks on marked hiking trails, cycling, fishing, swimming and paddle boarding. Families have also been taken into account, so there are playgrounds for children and a summer bobsleigh track has been opened.

The valley is surrounded by deciduous forest, where the Říčka stream flows along the forest road. The Říčka stream flows into three valley reservoirs: U Kadlecova mlýna, Pod hrádkem and Muchova bouda. There are several restaurants in the valley. The Eldorádó restaurant can be reached from the forest road next to the stream. Here you can even play beach volleyball and table tennis. From the other side of the valley, you can reach the Kadlcův mlýn Guesthouse, where you can also book accommodation. Corporate events and weddings are often held here.

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson
