Holedná Nature Reserve

Wildlife reserve in Brno

From time to time, I visit the nearby Holedná forest, but I had absolutely no plans for today’s outing. I had just finished my morning errands when the electricity supply in the apartment went out. On such a hot summer day, every room quickly turned into a swelter, so I decided to go out for a walk in the cool forest nearby.

This forest park is only 10 minutes from home. It is a very popular excursion destination for families. Many people go hiking here, but they also enjoy cycling on the forest paths here. This wildlife reserve has high hills, steep slopes, flat valleys and small lakes. Since they can be very dangerous, wild boars live in an inner fenced area. Around it, deer and mouflons can roam freely among the people. Mouflons are easily frightened and are rarely seen. The deer, on the other hand, are already very used to visitors, so they tend to come quite close. We can also see many different types of forest birds.

They have many information boards about the local wildlife (although unfortunately only in Czech language) and there are rest areas where you can sit down for a while. The park is always open, you can come out at any time, even at night, if you like. Pleasant pastime for the whole family in the fresh air in the embrace of nature.
